6 Steps to get success
How do you reach success? In other words, how do you get from where you are now ….… to where you ideally want to be?
GET CLARITY: Clearly define what it is (for you) to be successful. What does it mean? Get out a pen and piece of paper and write down what it is that will give you success? Is it fulfilment? Wealth? A happy marriage? Whatever it is start by writing it down which will help you take your idea of success from abstract to real.
HAVE A CLEAR PLAN: You wouldn’t set off to find a new destination in another town without planning your route or using a GPS. Why wouldn’t you do the same for your life and for your plan to be successful? The clearer the plan the more chance you will arrive at your destination. Every single new day is an opportunity to actively fine tune your plan to work towards your success.
PLAN FOR YOUR PITFALLS: You know exactly what it is that will hold you back. You also know what you tend to do that prevents you from achieving your goals. Why not make a plan to identify, avoid and then fix them so that they don’t limit you. If you are prone towards procrastinating for example, why not anticipate this and have a plan of action ready to deal with it. Plan out a plan to get past your hurdles. Your old habits will die hard. It’s inevitable. But having a plan to have move more steps forward than steps backward will eventually get you to your destination.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Once you have clarity of what you want, developed a plan to get there, and a strategy for dealing with the hurdles that might slow you down …. then you need to commit and be accountable to get out there and DO IT. You need to then tell 2 or 3 people you trust (that will not bullshit you) and get them to hold you to account. You need to give them full permission to call you out when you are not on track. This will ensure your commitment.
JUST DO IT: Take action irrespective of how you feel. Irrespective of whether you are a 100% confident or not. Get on and do it. Move forward. Shift the needle. Even if you don’t fully believe you can succeed the mere step of taking action every single day will drive momentum and take you towards your goal.
HAVE A WEEKLY REVIEW: Have a date for yourself each week to look back at the last week and then forward at the next week. What do you need to stop doing? What do you need to start doing? What should you do more of? Build momentum so you can do better and get better. You will undoubtably need to adjust your plan from time to time. Holding regular reviews of your progress is vital.
If you follow the above step by step and you simply execute on them ..... you WILL get to where you want to go.
